I recently had a cystectomy and a neobladder which I’m pretty happy with. I was told that it is relatively simple procedure to change from a neobladder (connected to the urethra) to a mitrofanoff (indiana pouch). I’m not considering this right now but wondered if anyone here has had this done and with what degree of success. And also if it really is “relatively simple”. Just interested.

    Hi Tim,

All things being relative, I’m sure such a conversion is actually quite simple compared to trying to turn an ileal conduit or Indiana pouch into a neobladder (not possible- no more urethra!). Don’t know of anyone who has gone that route you describe but I’m very sure they exist. As always, a skilled surgeon is probably the most important factor.
