  • difficulty inserting scope in urethra in women?

I have had a few cystoscopies and my uro-oncologist seems to have difficulty inserting the scope in my urethra.
He calls it, “hidden”. The last time he had to stop and get a speculum to continue. Wondering if other women have had this problem, and whether some docs are better at the insertion than others? The outcome is that I am more sore after the procedure than might otherwise be. One time I had difficulty voiding for almost 48 hrs. and another time I just experienced some sticking pain and burning. I am looking at intravesical therapy which will also involve inserting the catheter, so I am anticipating similar problems. Thanks for any insights you may be able to share.

That is a new one for me, but everyone’s anatomy is a bit different. Usually females have it much easier with cystoscopy than males! At least the catheter used for administration is MUCH smaller.
