day 3 after surgey,gene beane, oops!
Well its day 3 and not so pleasant today. Gene is experiencing indigestion with hiccups. He is been given nexium, mylanta, and whatever they can to help. I am encoureageing the walking even if he doesn’t feel like it as it will get things going. Also he is bloated, very uncomfortable for him. The next step is a suppository. If it works who cares.. Give it a go. Of course I am sitting in a chair and he is in the bed so it doesn’t think I should be giving the orders. Sorry Charlie, thats why I am here. Better get use to it!!!I do have a soft side that tells him I know how awful you must feel but you look great and soon you’ll be home.
I am on the outside looking in at him so I must continue the support along with the compassion.
The care here is outstanding, can’t say enough about it. Not only does Dr. Campbell visit early in the morning but his assistance pop in during the day and then they call after that. Unbelievable.!!! Darlene,,, don’t be afraid,its not so bad!! I am still staying on the premises, and I FEEL GOOD BEING THIS CLOSE RATHER THAN DRIVING 40 MINUTES IN RUSH HOUR..UNTIL TOMORROW…..GINGER -

Ginger…have them throw in a little Ativan to that mix…it will help with the diaphram spasms….that was part of my meds while there along with the Nexium. Is he actually taking things by mouth now? Has he had a bowel movement yet? I’m still at a loss as to what diversion Gene has..the ileal conduit or the neo or the Indiana?

Ginger Gene will be just fine he has been thru alot with this surgery once he gets them bowels fired up then everything starts happening lol. Take care Ginger and tell Gene I said howdy and btw did you try that pillow trick in case he has to cough it was a real lifesaver to me. A nurse made me a small blanket and taped it up and it looked like a small pillow and it did the trick, those nurses are angels. Joe

Ginger, progress is almost aways two steps forward and one step back.
Gene is doing remarkably well, and these little course corrections, to quote from Casablanca, won’t amount to a hill of beans in a week.
