Confusing results from first systoscopy….
Today I had my first dedicated cystoscopy procedure done — it came one month after the last of my 6-week BCG treatments ended. Brior to BCG, I’d had two TURBT procedures — one to remove the original 3cm tumor (which was determined to be T1 high grade non-muslcle invasive) and one which confirmed everything looked good afterwards.
The cystoscopy today was mostly good news — the insdie of my bladder was in great condition and everything looked good EXCEPT a small area where the original tumor had been removed. According to the doctor, there was calcification growing over the area, but underneath the calcification, it looked like a raised red area about the size of a pea had formed. The doctor wanted to get biopsies from this area asap to send to the lab, so we scheduled a follow up procedure.
When I asked the doctor what he thought the chance was it was a recurrence of cancer, he said that only about 20% of these tend to be cancerous, and 80% are not — he just wanted to be safe. But the whole thing is just leaving me now with an uneasy feeling. Any go through anything similar?
