  • Blood in Urine along with blood clots

On June 15, 2017 I had a cytoscopy and was told that I had a small tumor in my bladder that was low grade cancer. I am waiting for TURBT to be scheduled. Yesterday started having blood in my urine which is worse today with large clots that are hard to pass. I have an appt with my urologist later today. I am scared. When I had blood in my urine just before my diagnosis it was not this bad. Anyone experience this?

The bleeding was exactly what you said it was. THANK YOU!

TURB with mitomycin went well. Pathology report stated that the tumor was low grade papillary urothelial carcinoma. Doctor’s notes show Stage as Ta LG.

Doctor’s recommendation is to have cystoscopy every three months for the next two years.

    Thanks again

Waiting for a TURB and all the uncertainty is certainly nerve-racking! We have all been there and done that.

The amount of blood you are seeing is probably not an indication of the severity of the tumor; many bladder tumors are like little mushrooms sprouting from the lining of the bladder. If one sort of “breaks off” it can cause bleeding and this is probably what you are seeing. However, it wouldn’t hurt to call and mention this new development to the urologist or his nurse (I often find the nurse easier to get hold of!) This would probably ease your mind a bit.

Wishing you best of luck on your TURB
