  • Bladder wall more thickened

My brother, age 43, was diagnosed July 2017 with Stage 2 ( hesitantly stage 2 ) bladder cancer. He had been diagnosed with kidney stones and bladder infection from our local Drs and hospital since Feb 2017. He was hospitalized, they did a resection and he started chemo. Gemzar and cistplatin for 4 months. After his last treatment they done another CT and his urologist said the bladder wall had thickened more even with chemo. He is schefuled for surgery ( removal of bladder, prostated, ureters and any lymph nodes) on Feb 20th, 2018. My concern is with it being 2 months since his last chemo treatment before doing surgery, isnt that giving the tumor plenty of time to grow more?

So sorry to hear about your brother. However, it does sound as if he is getting state of the art treatment. Two months is not too long to wait for the surgery. The cancer probably started many many years ago before becoming obvious. A bit of time now is not going to be a problem.

Wishing him, and you, the very best.
