  • Bladder cancer after stem cell transplant/lymphoma

    Hello,
I am coming here from my wonderful lymphoma forum – one of our members is also a member here. We are so used to hearing people come worried they have lymphoma with symptoms that end up being nothing or close to nothing – I hesitate to post as I understand the difficulties of having cancer and having others whine and worry when you ARE in the midst of it.

That said, I had my 2 year CT scan after my stem cell transplant. It showed no lymphoma, but a thickening of the bladder lining. My oncologist wants me to see a urologist (yes I made the appointment) for a cystology (I think that’s the correct term).

She didn’t seem very worried, but I just thought I’d drop in and ask smart people – do many people drop by with thickening of the bladder lining but it’s not cancer? No blood, no pain, no symptoms at all.

Thanks for taking the time to respond and I wish you all the best.

Cystoscopy done. It wasn’t cancer. It was nothing. The urologist said he compared my CT scan from a year ago to the recent one. The bladder was more full last time. That’s why it looked thicker.

Thank you for welcoming me. I won’t stick around, but what happened to me might be of use to someone else sometime.

    Take care.

We are pleased to have you at our forum also…even (hopefully) temporarily!

You are no doubt scheduled to have cystoscopy. The urologist will look into your bladder with a tiny camera and can see if there is any evidence of a tumor or any other cause for the thickening.

There are many reasons other than cancer, so we will be thinking really good thoughts for you.
