Annual scope?
Well, I had my second clear poke and peek yesterday, and now my urologist says we can go to annual scopes, with cytology every six months. My original tumor, while large, was TaG1…
I watched the monitor, and saw a very smooth bladder wall, other than the area of scar tissue…
Do you think I should question this, or go with it? I sure won’t mind not having a scope again for a year – it always hurts to pee for a week afterwards – but I’m looking for opinions…

I don’t know much about my doctor; but when i was laying outside the operating room last year, the OR nurse told me that she had a kidney problem and let the same doctor operate on her; I figured that was a good endorsement!
I thought I would be on a six month regimen for quite awhile; seems from the answers here that it varies by doctor, and perhaps by the doctor’s feelings about what he’s seen, and pathology reports. I have copies of my pathology report if I feel like getting another opinion, but i think I will just continue to pray and behave and eat my broccoli, and drink my green tea, and take my Oncovite, and hope for the best. 8-)

I am super happy your doing well. I just finished my 5th surgery on my 1 year annv for
cancer {Mon}a little ironic for me. DO your scopes if slight pain is all you have after you are awesome to hear that sweet sound of flushingn the toilet.
The scopes will give answers and question anything you want for your body is your home. I am going for round 4 of bcg with now interferion{sp} so keep healthy and best of luck with staying clean. Star
I think my early scoping years were more in line with Alyssa’s when I had low grade Ta disease. Although I did at one point go to 18 months between scopes it was earned with a more cautious regimen of scopes every 3 – 6 months for several years prior to this.

I had a low grade noninvasive single paillary that resembled a inverted papiloma. I had surgery May of 2006. My uro-oncologist does scopes every three months. At my last cysto he talked about doing them every 6 months and decided based on the pathology he wanted to see me every three months. I am a 27 year old female who has never smoked. I appreciate his cautious approach. I do not like the cystos but I do like the peace of mind. This diagnosis rocked my world. Finally now 9 months later, with three clear cysto I have confidence that I will be o.k. .

I had a single small (Less then 3cm) TA G1 tumor removed in July 06. My bladder was also “clean”. After the TURB I had a instillation of Mitomycin C. I just finished my 6 month scope which was “Clean”, and my Doctor said if I stay clean for 1 year then I would also only have to go in for annual scopes. I’m not sure if this is the norm but I feel very comfortable with my Doctor…
