    Dear Forum Members,

Have anyone used alternative medicine to complement your bladder cancer treatments, such as acupuncture, herbs, and/or Cannabis?

I have been using Essiac Tea (burdock root, sheep sorrel herb, slippery elm bark, rhubarb root), Soursop Leaf Tea, and 5 Defender Mushroom power (reishi, maitake, shitake, chaga, turkey tail), to complement my urologist’s treatments. These teas and Mushrooms have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties just to name a couple of benefits for bladder cancer patients.

Of course, I understand alternative medicine is a holistic approach and a preventative strategy. I am hoping it will help in preventing the bladder cancer from coming back.

I am also taking Cannabis, since the BCD and THC in Cannabis can help with pain without the side effects of opioids or Advil.

Any opinions and/or advice would be appreciated.

    Warm regards, Nelson

    1. Be sure that your care team is aware of what you are taking since sometimes these can interfere with each other.
    2. I have used CBD for severe neuropathic pain with some success. Not for anything related to bladder cancer.
    3. Where alternative medicine gets into real murky water is when it is used IN PLACE OF TREATMENTS WITH KNOWN THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS.

Just be careful. Some can be of a bit of help, some do nothing, and many are actually harmful
