After RC …………… quick hello
Posted by Maria on July 17, 2008 at 2:26 amJust thought I would drop in and say a quick hello!
RC over and done with, discharged home with new neo bladder on day 9.
I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and spent 4 days in ICU
Once I got over the complications and since discharge I have had loads of support and just been resting lots.
Been doing my walking/breathing exercises daily.
Feel excessively tired but I am sure this will pass with time.I return for first outpatient appointment on Friday ……………… 45 – 50+ staples to be removed…………yikes, not looking forward to that! All seems ok, path results so far, so good. More path results due Friday.
Still feel in a ‘shocked sate’ and ‘dazed’ with everything that has been happening.
Hope you are all well, sorry could not drop in sooner to let you know I was ok.

WrightHi Maria – I too am so sorry to hear your news…but I know your oncologist will help you determine the best course of action and you can go forward from there. I know it is difficult at the moment…the unknown and the wait time between discussions with doctors is so difficult. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers daily, that your medical team will be guided by the Lord and that you will receive strength comfort from Him daily.
Love and prayers, Margot and HarryDear Maria,
I am so sorry that your pathology results were not more positive.
When you make some sense out of this news please come back and update us on the plan forward.
Do you know how many nodes they took during RC and how many of them were positive?
They may have taken all the positive nodes out already….
You are not alone Maria….I am routing for you.

I sure wish I could make the lymph node involvement go away just by wishing. The shock of such news makes it real tough to find steady ground – like massive aftershocks from the “getting diagnosed” earthquake. How many nodes were out and how many positive? What are they proposing for treatment? When I got my path report after RC and they told me it was a T3 – thru the bladder wall – I was devastated as well.
Adjusting to our reality is not a simple thing – I have days where I feel defeated, other days I certain I can win this war. By far the hardest part of facing it all is when we think of our loved ones. You are not alone, Maria.
I will keep watching for your posts – wherever you may post them. Personally I agonized over where to post when my status changed. I felt like a fraud posting in the invasive section all because I was afraid of seeing my own post in the metastatic section. And I am only an email away should I be able to help.
((((Maria))))) my thoughts and prayers are with you, God Bless, Holly
I don’t know how I missed the post that you were home and back online. I’m sorry that your BC has gone into the lymph nodes. Hearing news like that unprepared is a shock. I hope the oncologists plans make sense to you and will work. Take a few deep breaths focus on healing from the surgery.
I know from nothing about lymph node involvement as that wasn’t the course Dick’s BC took. I am praying for you. Julie

ABLSCMaria,
This makes me so mad I want to spit. IUnfair is all I have to say.
You will be in my prayers.
RickMaria,
Those that will be upset will not read. If they read and can not handle it that is something they will have to work through. The important thing is that you get what you need. Worry about our children is one of the worst things about cancer. Know that we are here for you. If you just need to talk or vent we are here.Webs

Thats horrible news, especially to hear it now, I would try to keep your head on straight,(easy for me to say), AS TREATMENT CAN CERTAINLY IMPROVE YOUR SITUATION. Meanwhile, prayers coming for your recovery!!!GingerMy good news did not last very long ………………. I have progressed to lymph node mets and am in a complete state of shock and devastated ………… why I was not told before I was discharged is the million $ question.
I am writing this from MD Anderson, admitted yesterday with UTI,hypertension etc, been discussing where to go from here with oncologist. He has a few plans, I am very distressed and may not be able to reply as quick as I would want to. my head is a mess, all I can think about is my family, my son.
Holly ………… just read your proposal under mets and way forward, up until reading that I just did not know where to put this thread, I too worry about upsetting people who may otherwise be settled.
Will update when i feel up to it
MariaMaria,
What terrific news to hear from you. So glad the surgery went well…the staple removal isn’t such a big deal and you shouldn’t feel anything more than a slight pinch, if that…now you will just need to buy some kind of scar cream and use 2 or 3 times a day. Take it easy as all of us have suggested…the first few weeks following discharge are the tough ones. Take care, Hugs. Melodie

Sounds like everthing went well and you are on the road to recovery. I had no problem when they took out the staples (R/C in 11/07). No pain, some minor pinches, so it was nothing to worry about, at least in my case. Take it slow, and don’t be trying to get back up to speed too quickly. You and your body have been through a very traumatic operation. Also keeping my fingers crossed for you for a good pathology report.
Regards,
Peter Konomos
GuestJuly 17, 2008 at 5:44 pmI am very glad all went Maria and get that rest you need. As far as the staples they really aren’t that bad coming out just like a tiny pinch and after about 3 or 4 you don’t really feel it much anymore. Please take care of yourself. Joe :)
Hi Maria – It was WONDERFUL to hear from you! :) ! I had recently posted a note asking if anyone had heard from you…I was anxious to hear that all was well. Glad you are home. Rest is important…you’ll regain strength in time. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Hugs and prayers still coming your way. Margot and Harry
Hi Maria,
Really pleased all going ok for you. You have been in my thoughts a lot. Wishing you improvements day by day,
Best wishes
