  • After my bladder is tumor removed will my symptoms dissipate?

My symptoms right now are mainly frequent trips to the bathroom especially at night, having to urinate all of a sudden, and not being able to empty my bladder after urination. After I get my bladder resection, will these symptoms generally go away?

The answer to your question is “maybe.” After the TURB your bladder will be tender and it will take it a while (couple of wees) to heal. IF you had papillary tumors, which are like little mushrooms sticking out of the bladder lining, your symptoms may disappear once the surgical site heals. However, my bladder cancer was also CIS (carcinoma in situ) which is more like a rash on the surface of the bladder which cannot be completely removed during biopsy. It was only after several BCG instillations that my symptoms….like a bad UTI….went away.
