Thank you Joe, I needed that - I am still in the scared silly state and very emotional. I just called my dr. and asked that he send my pathology slides for a second opinion. He said he would take care of it and suggest John Hopkins. I guess I am so freaked out because I thought I was home free with the "fish test"

There is a group of early bladder cancers that doctors call 'high risk'. They are more likely to come back. And more likely to go on to develop into a more dangerous invasive bladder cancer. This group includes carcinoma in situ and T1 tumours. T1 tumours have started to grow further into the bladder wall than the lining. The cancer cells have broken through the base of the lining into the supporting tissue underneath. CIS is 'high risk' because the cells are very abnormal. Doctors call this 'high grade'. High grade cancer cells are more likely to grow quickly into the bladder muscle and spread than low grade ones.

Nancy I put this in here so you can see if treated you will be fine so I would definitely take the 6 weeks of BCG now if you do nothing being that these cells are abnormal you could have a good chance of getting invasive cancer does not mean you will. I understand how you are upset cause first I remember when I found out I had a 2 inch tumor and then it was T2 G3. Of course I had to get chemo which I got b4 my surgery then the surgery and today as of now I am cancer free. And this came one month after i just got my left hip replaced talk about luck. So don't freak out that's the deal with this cancer it can change whenever it wants to. I would sit down take a deep breath and do what your Dr suggested. There are worst stages of this cancer to be in like mine was. There are also folks here in Stage IV and there are people out there in this world that won't see another day so don't jump the gun. Joe

I am so upset I did not do the history. Last Nov I had Ta - I did 6 wks of BCG first cysto clear - second some red spots - dr did biopsy in office came back clear - dr did a fish test to be sure. Fish test came back neg. At the same time he did one more biopsy - last week it came back very low grade cancer. He did the next cysto a few days later in the hospital and everything came back CIS. Even my urine tests were neg. So when i heard CIS today - I was/am speechless. Can anyone help me? He is suggesting 6 wks of BCG - but I am afraid in the meantime the CIS will become invasive. Right no it is not.
