This is the comment that I was paraphrasing, Zach. Did I misunderstand?

BTW, hope you have a good vacation, I meant to say that before...

That wasn't exactly what I said.

What I said was: "I would hate to get to the end of my life and discover that it contained only length, and not breadth. We should all enjoy what we enjoy, within reason and in moderation."

Some of the healthiest, most vibrant people I know are swimmers. And I mean people who swim every day, rain or shine, year-in and year-out.

Paging Mark Spitz! ;D

I am certainly not ready to give up swimming or coffee.

I haven't eaten any red meat for over 30 years.

Perhaps like Zach says, except for the absolute certainty that smoking is a huge risk, it just doesn't matter about unknowns like swimming pools. But still, I think that this is a valid question...

JUST MY humble OPINION....

You know, Rosie, I've been giving this topic a lot of thought lately.

Because of your cancer, because of your suffering, look how many people you've been able to help and advise and comfort. People in some really difficult straits have been helped by you and others here.

That's a lot of goodness that has come out of a bad situation.

I didn't mention it because... well... that one was just too easy.

Gee whiz, do I love bbq. My wife does most of the cooking, so I don't get to enjoy it as much as I'd like, but it's my favorite food-group.

On a serious note, I would hate to get to the end of my life and discover that it contained only length, and not breadth. We should all enjoy what we enjoy, within reason and in moderation.

Zachary, cluck, cluck It seems I was doomed to have bladder cancer. We had our own backyard swimming pool that I lived in that heavily chlorinated water for 15 years, I smoked cigarettes, we bar-b-qued 3 to 4 times a week (no one has mentioned that but I hear it over and over about bar-b-que red meat is a cause of cancer), I lived in St. Louis which had fluoridated drinking water in all public and residential homes, my drink of choice is coffee. Of course I also loved broccoli and all green plants, being of Italian descent ate lots of tomato sauce with the recommended lycopene and drank red wine. So, I agree that we can not live by what might cause cancer as it is still just a guessing game for all those who did as I have done yet did not develop cancer. Have a great vacation. cluck, cluck.
