I take a multi-vitamin usually labeled for men & vitamin C always did in all my years as a trucker. The Multi for any minerals I may not of got in my diet and vitamin C whenever I got a cold or flu symptoms it may not have stopped it but it made it more bearable and cut down on lost time from work. Now this is a very debatable topic and people all have their ways on what vitamins or remedies they take or believe in and in my book nothing wrong with that. Closing as I said I have done fine taking the 2 vitamins I mentioned. Joe ;)

I see Oncovite cited in a lot of places....my husband is going in for his first (and hopefully last) TUR tomorrow. Would Oncovite be a good thing for us to start even before we really know what we are up against?

I got this from a May/2007 article on Prevention magazine's website:

High consumption of garlic lowered rates of ovarian, colorectal, and other cancers, says a 2006 research review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. A 2006 Japanese clinical trial also found that after a year of taking aged garlic extract supplements, people with a history of colon polyps saw a reduction in the size and number of the precancerous growths detected by their doctors.

It might also: Provide cardiovascular benefits. Garlic contains more than 70 active phytochemicals, including allicin, which many studies have shown decreases high blood pressure by as much as 30 points. Garlic may help prevent strokes as well by slowing arterial blockages, according to a yearlong clinical study at UCLA. In addition, patients' levels of homocysteine, a chemical that leads to plaque buildup, dropped by 12%.

Maximize the benefits: Crushed fresh garlic offers the best cardiovascular and cancer-fighting benefits, says Duke. But you'll need to down up to five cloves each day. Try Kyolic aged garlic extract capsules (1,000 mg), the product used in many of the studies.

I take much of what they say with a grain of sea-salt, but I thought I'd pass it along.

Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Dear Gman:
I am very interested in learning more about Oncovite. Do you know if it is only useful in conjunction with BCG treatments? Is there a period where it's "too late" to begin taking the tablets? My Dad currently takes Multi-vitamin, calcium, Vitamin B12, Vitamin E.
I intend to ply my Dad with lots of green tea and would like to know more about the EGCG you mentioned in your post. If you don't mind, could you let me know what this is and how much is good ... better? Also, I have read that garlic is very good. Do you take this in pill form or add more garlic to your foods?
I found a website today written by Diana Dyer. She has a section just on foods that may be beneficial for cancer patients.

Anyhow, thanks very much for your topic. And, of course, by the way ... I hope you're doing well! ;)
Kind regards,
Nean

during my bcg I did green tea extract (there's some evidence that it helps when taken over a reasonable period with BCG effectiveness. also with BC generally www.newstarget.com/005192.html), aged garlic, beta carotene, a good multivit and 100mg vit c. since my cystectomy I just make sure I eat properly (as much fresh veg and fruit as possible, a little meat and fish, seeds grains) and just take a good quality multivit. its cheaper and more enjoyable. Vits are best, I found, when you go for quality. but it costs. I'll probably start taking fish oil at some point but actually I love all the oily fish anyway.
