Hi Star......have you read Dr. Soloways presentation on this site? Rosie asked me to mention it to you..having trouble getting into the site. She is a proponent of "watchful waiting". Which in effect after 2 to 3 TURBS with pathology reporting low grade papillary recurrences, then checking the recurrences a confirmed and visual papillary growth is safe to call. There is a distinct difference in the visual of a papillary low grade and more agressive. This being said i do believe that depends on how qualified your uro/oncologist is.
So i'm passing this on from Rosie. Pat

I think, Star, it really depends on grade and stage as well as number. I had many many recurrences (3o or 40) over a 14 year period but it was only when the disease became a grade 3 with CIS that I started down the bladder removal route. I guess small, multiple, low grade recurrences can be managed for some considerable time. although, as you point out, there's always a risk that they can become more aggressive.

all the best

oWell another surgery folks after a year now once again I had # 6 now. every 3 months I fail the scope and have that cath bag for 3 days so now whom has them tumors come back so many times in a year???? Granted this has only been a 1yr and
4-1/2 months for me but the 4 rounds of chemo or actually I read that it is biological {bcg}  and now the interferon has not worked so after Monday's surgery the 21st doc said this:::: going to talk to the Wilmont Cancer center about your case. MMM.
The cells from the very first tumor has left so many that whom knows when they can come alive.
HERE'S THE QUESTIONs; can or has anyone asked what is the base cause of them coming back? someone told me they can test for why they come back or grow???   whom has had lots within a yr and then what for you? doc says we can do this every 3 months but each it maybe closer to the wall vs something else... It seems semi treatable yet then he is concerned.
okay After 1 yr I changed the diet-eat and less coffee been SMOKE FREE FOR 1YR SINCE GETTING SICK, went from those pots of coffee to cups 4 at the most. lots of h2o and only 1 job from 4 so whom has other ideas???
menopause is better finally after alomst 3 years of it. HAS ANY ONE BEEN TOLD IT IS NOT WORKING WE MAY TRY? OR WE CAN TAKE THE BLADDER? The tumors have not gotten to the wall so still confined at this point. Gosh folks I really thought this has been no real threat and you all have shown that. I have lost no real life aspects and many wonder at work how easy it can be to work and live normal. BUT taking the bladder {last resort] when it has not been totally compromised -mmm STORIES OR OPINIONS AT THIS POINT HINTS OR METHODS BEYOND ALL THIS. THANKS.... :P :-/ :-/   Star
