HI ALL,
HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND FOR AWHILE..I HAD TO DELAY MY FOLLOW UP CYSTO BECAUSE
I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO REPLACE MY PACEMAKER.
ANYWAY,I HAD THE FOLLOW UP CYSTO ON 9/13/07...GOT THE RESULTS OF BIOPSIES
YESTERDAY...GOOD NEWS..NO TUMOURS..NO SIGN OF CANCER IN MY BLADDER,PROSTATE,
OR ANYWHERE ELSE.
BCG TREATMENTS APPARENTLY WORKED FOR ME.
I HOPE THIS MESSAGE HELPS TO ALLAY FEARS THAT MANY FOLKS HAVE ABOUT THIS
DISEASE AND THE TREATMENTS FOR IT.GOOD THINGS CAN HAPPEN AS A RESULT
OF TREATMENT...ALTHOUGH,WE ALL SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS IS A LIFETIME DISEASE
THAT REQUIRES CONSTANT VIGILANCE.
THINKING OF YOU ALWAYS,
MAX :)

Hi Max - It's all true really, what works for some doesn't for others. So Bleach, Water and Anti-Bacterial wipes, the three mainstays- will get you started. I think the general concensus is that for the first three or four doses you just sail through, might be a little tired. Oh yeah, if you stay at hospital/docs office for the two hours I would suggest either a good book or an IPOD. Don't drink any liquids for a few hours before your installtion, then you can be sure to hold it for two hours....but Rosemany has a great idea, start drinking water about an hour into the installation - think that will cut down on any burning or the like. I was drinking cranberry juice after each installtion but think it exascerbated my burning so stick with the water now. But I do start everyday with 8 oz of cranberry juice - chased with one cup of coffee (LOL). It's my answer to a Starbucks moment!

So you start tomorrow and Rosemary and I have maintenance rounds on Thursday, I believe. Let's us know how you do, will be sending up positive thoughts just for you tomorrow. The first time is the fear of the unknown then you will be a pro....Hang in there....Take care, Sandra

Max,

I think I gave you a misnomer. I think that you need anti-bacterial soap. I don't know where I've even seen the name anti-microbial.

Take a deep breath. This is not hard.

Rosemary

Hi Rosemary!
Thanks for the info...I have the bleach, can you tell me if antibacterial
soap is as good as antimicrobial soap?
I'm a bit nervous now that the time has come for my treatment.
Sometimes one can have too much information. You know what I mean,
I've been reading about this till my eyeballs want to fall out.I'm so afraid that I
won't know enough. That I won't know if the nurse is doing everything
correctly.
God bless my wife, she tries so to be patient with me.
Used to drink cranberry juice for the urinary system years ago....
Guess I'll try it again.
BC Pal,
Max :-/

Max,

My biggest advice at this point is to have a good bottle of bleach (for the toilet) and plenty of good, filtered fresh water for flushing out starting about 1 hour into treatment. If you are feeling too much urge to go, you might want to hold off on the flushing, but start as soon as you can. Have some antimicrobial soap at the sink for washing your hands.

Some people say that Cranberry Juice is helpful for the burning and some say that it causes more burning. (I intend to try it. My 2nd round of 3 BCG's starts this week.)

You probably won't even notice any unusual symptoms this first time, but you never know.

I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Your friend,
Rosemary
