Thank you for your feedback.

Results are in as urothelial dysplasia and CIS. Good news is that it is not muscle invasive anwhere.

Now in the middle of a 6 treatment round of BCG. However this time with Interferon.

Any input or thoughts are most welcome!

That is a tough question to answer since it is a very personal decision. Som people would do anything to “save the bladder” even at the risk of their life, while others would vote to get rid of it ASAP. I would suggest a second opinion with a urologist at a center that specializes in bladder cancer cases. This should be done as soon as possible.

Thank you for your quick response. As someone who has been reading posts on this forum all year it’s very helpful to learn from the experiences of others.

In your opinion is this a good “next step” or is radical cystectomy a more typical next step? I don’t want to regret accepting this recommendation it’s its not ideal.

Sorry to hear about your friend. T1G3 is tricky, which is why BCG was prescribed right away. It really doesn’t matter whether this is “new” or old.” What is important is that it needs further treatment right away. Sometimes BCG with Interferon will work when BCG alone has failed One bad thing about bladder cancer is that it does have a nasty habit of returning. T1G3 is especially dangerous...some patients respond to BCG but a significant percentage do not and this usually requires a radical cystectomy.

Please remember that we are not physicians and are not in a position to know exactly what is going on In this case.

Your friend is fortunate to have your support.

Close friend initially diagnosed with T1G3 NIMBC Bladder cancer earlier this year.

Turbt procedure followed up with 6 round BGC treatment (Diluted due to shortage). Follow up CT scans 6 months later showed nothing. However at the same time, cystoscope showed a couple areas for concern. Pathology from follow up turbt confirmed T1G3 NIMBC Bladder cancer. I can’t say whether this is a recurrence or new?

Is this common? Rare?

Additionally Uro is recommending another round of BCG - this time with Interferon. All thoughts and input are most welcome.
