Removing prostrate during radical surgery

If the other items on your list are removed, the prostate will be left without a function.

Perhaps you are thinking of a Prostate Capsule-sparing RC. Seemingly a worthwhile approach to me.

The following article may help provide thoughts to discuss with your docs. Be sure to ask all you questions so you can be comfortable with the procedure to be undertaken.

Merryman,

Welcome! As you are probably aware small cell cancer is serious (as all cancers are). This one is way above my pay grade (no one is a doctor here) but, there have been a few with this type of cancer. I do know you want the very best hospital to handle this. As far as the keeping prostate, I am sorry, I just don't know. Hopefully, someone that has had this issue can chime in.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I’m from the uk and have spent 2 years fighting micr papillary bladder cancer but having been given the all clear early this year it’s come come with a CIS warning and 3 high grade growths were found a month ago
I believe in the states the gold standard is the same as what we have
Everything is taken out
Bladder
Prostrate
Seminal vesties
Lymph Nodes
My question is if you’ve a healthy prostrate which shows no sign of cancer why does it need to come out and has anyone had this operation and kept the prostrate and is there any research details on the outcome of not taking the prostrate out ??
Thanks in advance
