So, turbt was completed 7 hours ago, current 1.13am here in the short stay unit.

Surgery was extremely easy, as I've been told I used to, I woke up extremely energetic (actually humming the baby shark tune, would recommend you tubing it to see what I mean). At the moment I am still full of energy and genuinely feel amazing.

Had 45 mins of mitomycin-c, unfortunately bladder filled up and needed to be relieved, to the nurses surprise a good 600ml come out!

Only issue I've got is having the catheter in and if I'm honest, not looking forward to having it pulled out in 4 hours 45 but will be a relief once done.

The tumour was originally seen in the cystoscopy as 1-2cm single, very happy to say based on what they saw, tumour appeared to be 1cm and still single. Now we wait for the results. That means it has not grown in 2 months, anyone know how fast g1, 2 and 3 tumours tend to grow at all?

EDIT: The urologist was very impressed with my level of knowledge on the potential treatments, outcomes, cystectomy options and complimentary medicine options (selenium, milk thistle, ecgc, curcumine and l. Casei). Big thank you to everyone on this forum for that.

I did tell her about this forum and that it is brilliant for anyone going through this who needs help whether from America or not (England here!)

Hi Jack,

I'll be sure to make a list so it's easier, no doubt in the NHS I'll get an onslaught of people asking the same questions. They're very good don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful to them for the assistance and work they have put into this.

It's the urinating I'm not looking forward to (and the catheter)! Unfortunately it'll be 3-4 weeks for the pathology report through the NHS but that means I can try to enjoy Christmas without the worry of the appointment coming up.

Alan,

The "Why Me" question was very early on for me due to the lack of risks and my age on my side. Like yourself, told myself it's not worth the stress. The reality is, this is a fight I've got to take regardless of why it is there, time to change my diet for the better and tackle it head on.

I've got all the favourable aspects for my fight; I'm young, small tumour, single tumour, no other health issues, mostly active, no smokers in our house and a powerhouse of a support team in family and friends.

You have asked yourself what I consider the hardest question. "Why me"? Some take days, weeks or never...and that is OK. I was lucky. After about an hour I told myself that is wasted effort. It HAS happened and there was nothing I could do about it. Let's go and beat it. YOU are on the way to beating this!

The anesthesia is the easy part of a TURBT. A short acting mix that helps you forget what happened, and gives you your mind back quickly in the recovery room.

The hard part is having a slew of people ask you the same questions over and over again:
When did you eat last ?
When did you drink anything ?
What meds did you take today ? What time ?
Allergies, Street Drugs, loose teeth, have you ever, past medical procedures, history of this and that..........
It helps to make a list, so you don't forget anything important. This exercise will be repeated at every TURBT.

Expect some soreness, some blood in the urine and burning for a bit.
In a few days you will have the pathology report.
All that has taken place so far culminates with that report.
Finally, some solid information !

Best,
Jack

I'll keep that in mind, been focusing on the fact that myself and my fiancee are looking to start a family in the new year so that right there is what I'm working towards.

I have been ensuring I remember that the situation I am in is favourable versus a lot of different types of cancers out there including later stage BC. No point doing the "Why me", I'm 26, never smoked and never worked with any chemicals... no family history either, but doing the "why me" isn't going to beat it, that's my job!

You'll probably find a new post from me after the TURBT as I go through new pains and feelings (to me that is), it's very helpful to talk to those on here that have gone through this and come out the other side so thank you very much for the replies, they do mean a lot.

Answer to #1. One day at a time! With only a couple of days before then one hour at a time. Keep your mind on other stuff. Games, family, work tv you name it and if you still revert keep telling yourself it will be over soon and on your way to the rest of your life!

Answer to #2. I have learned not to speculate. It is wasted effort however, since you specifically asked the probability is it will be non invasive being small.

The worst part....waiting...will over soon and you can go and attack and eventually put this behind you. Focus on the fact there are worse cancers, many with worse prognostications and lots of worse treatments. You have the rest of your life ahead.
