TURBT - 13/12

1 year 5 months ago #56469 by Finalman2
Hi AGM,

I've recovered quickly but I think that's a combination of the base of the tumour being smaller than they thought (6mm) and my age (26).

Bit of pain still when urinating with some blood here and there but for the most part back to normality.

I get my report next Monday so Christmas will hopefully be a little bit more cheerful, hoping for TaG1 here, maybe Punlmp if lucky! Will see what comes though.

Worst parts for me were by far the catheter and the pain when urinating for the first day after.

28/10/18 - Blood???
24/12/18 - Dx TaG2
15/01/19 - Start BCG
06/04/19 - Cysto + Biopsies - CANCER CLEAR

How did the procedure turnout? My first procedure was a bit tough, gotten easier after that one.

Catheter is gone now, felt as bad as I thought it would, not for me!

Only worry I have is that I wasn't told to stop drinking when they were planning to put it in, I knew from research that I shouldnt drink after but was drinking before as I didn't know what time it would be put in.

That meant that 45 mins in it had to be drained due to my bladder being full, 600ml come out with the the mitomycin being so diluted the urine all looked clear. A little worried it won't have had the chance to do it's job but will see what happens in terms of recurrence now.

Time to look forward to Christmas, have a good one if we don't talk in the meantime!

Finalman,

I understand about anticipation of the pending removal of the catheter.

On the other hand it is wonderful that the docs can get to the problem without make an incision every time.

Heal fast, have a good path report & enjoy the holidays.

Best
Jack

Hi Jack,

I keep an eye on macmillan but found more first hand experiences on here with more debate on things such as probiotics.

Pathology report over here will be 2 weeks so around Christmas, will hopefully be a nice Christmas present but we will see! My main focus over night has been on the impending catheter removal, safe to say that's not an experience I want again anytime soon!

The nurses have been brilliant, especially when you take into account the terrible funding the NHS has been received. Massive respect to them taking on a career to help people like myself in these situations.

I work for a national UK charity in an IT dept of 2 looking after over 1.4k employees for that reason, I can assist with the staff delivering a valuable service to help those in need.

Finalman,

Welcome back for the brief nap, less the tumor.

I was thinking it interesting that you find this site interesting - 3 years ago as i began my "read ever credible BC site on the net" journey, I found your local site, Macmillan Trust , to be useful - both for the general quality of information and the discussion groups.

Once again you are back to waiting - waiting for the pathology report; here it usually takes 3 to 5 days, longer if special stains and evaluations are ordered. Hopefully you have the report soon and have a glimpse at what lies ahead.

Be nice to the nurses in the recovery room - they call the shots.

Best,
Jack
