Alright guys! Dad finished taking 10 days of Nitrofurantoin on Tuesday and he's back strong. He says no more fatigue and feeling great. Urination is back to normal also. It looks like it was a side effect.

(PS. We don't have results from the 2nd TURBT yet. We'll be getting them tomorrow and I've a feeling that I will be making an exciting post.)

I couldn't reach the doctor but my dad is feeling good today! Maybe it was temporary. We've 5 days left with Nitrofurantoin.

You need to contacts your fathers medical team. These symptoms may have nothing to do with the antibiotic but anytime some one show new signs of weakness they need to be assessed by a medical professional. Hope there is an easy answer please keep us updated.

Nitrofurantoin after 2nd TURBT was created by richard_lv
Hello,

You may know me already. I've been posting about my dad for the last couple of weeks.

He got a second TURBT last week and was feeling fantastic (he's very strong and healthy).

The doctor prescribed Nitrofurantoin: Take 100mg twice a day for 10 days. He's at day 5 today (we bought them a few days late.)

I looked it up and it's an antibiotic used to treat urinary infections. It was not prescribed after first TURBT only now after second one.

Starting 3rd day my dad has started feeling very weak and is sleeping all day. Also he has to pee very often, every few hours. (After first TURBT he only had to pee maybe two times a day.)

Has anyone taken this antibiotic? Should my dad feel so tired? I tried finding side effects of nitrofurantoin but weakness isn't a common side effect. Any ideas?
