Good luck. I think a lot of us are in the same boat, with the thought of common recurrence in the back of our mind. Hopefully it's in your head and all will be OK.

As for me, I'm pretty sure I was walking around with bladder cancer for quite a while before I actually did something about it. We are all in a better place now that we have this frequent monitoring. Even if it comes back, at least you can deal with it. That is better than not knowing.

12/2015 - TURBT, non-invasive T1, mixed grade, 3 tumors
1/2016 - Begin BCG weekly for 6 weeks

Smayco,

After 6 BCG I got the all clear. In less than 3 months that changed to recurrent CIS. SO, 6 more BCG, and waiting until next check to see where it stands. I don't worry as much as I get impatient and want answers sooner - like NOW.

No new or repeated symptoms on my reoccurance - althought residual effects of BCG were still present.

There are many possible causes for the symptoms that CAN be caused by bladder cancer. Just because we have been diagnosed with cancer does not mean that all such symptoms are from cancer activity. (although we will be very concerned about any symptoms)

All we can do is keep current on checkups and wait for the results to determne what is taking place in the bladder. If there are any shortcuts, I have not heard of them.

Best,
Jack

Thank you Alan!

What sorts of experiences do others have with recurrence? Did it come back very quickly, or did it not show up again for years? Did it present itself the same way as the first time, or differently?

Thanks,
Sue

The good news is your next cysto is next week! So answers will be found and hopefully everyting is OK. For whatever it's worth, several months after my DX every ache and pain scared me which is normal for all of us. Fortunately, nothing materialized. As a matter of fact your discomfort actually sounds more like a UTI. One thing I have learned. Try not to second guess until we know what you are facing as many times it is nothing!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Hi all,

I am scheduled for my second cysto next week. About a week ago, I started having "symptoms" again. They are very subtle and I almost think they're all in my head, but I feel like I have to pee more often and I feel a slight burning sensation AFTER I pee, not during.

My question is, would it be unusual for me to have a recurrence this soon, after 6 BCG instillations for a tumor that was 90% low grade?

Any advice or stories would be helpful!
~Sue
