I am astounded to learn you will have a treatment in a few days.
I had 4 BCG treatments after removal of a 5 cm, high grade, tumor and then was told the product was on backorder. That was on Nov 6th. I am still waiting as of today Dec. 1, for my 5th treatment. I am told that Merck is the only Manufacturer. I live in a small community with only one Uro.
I am surprised I am not hearing more about this "worldwide shortage" on this blog. Please, please enlighten me. Thanks.

My guess is that if there is still blood or any sign of an "open" wound situation the BCG will be postponed until it it healed. BCG is great stuff, but NOT something that they/you want to get into the bloodstream.

Hi folks, I have my second treatment coming up this Wednesday but have had plenty of clots and blood in my urine the last 2 days. No pain and no fever but the dr. put me on antibiotics until i call him tomorrow. Has anyone else had this issue? Will they still give me a treatment Wednesday? I have searched the internet and know I can have SOME bleeding, which some say is good, but to me it looks like more than SOME.

Yes I am drowning myself with water also! ;)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I had the first BCG treatment and aside from the catheter insertion (ugh) it went smoothly. For the sake of any other new folks the whole thing was 10 minutes and I went home. I did feel a little queasy and tired but had no issue holding the stuff in, but the cleanup routine was turned into a mini-bio-hazard scene by my over the top wife....that lasted just once because it was so ridiculous (I am talking about gloves, masks, and paper towels with lining on the toilet, etc etc etc etc, ) then all I did was use the bleach and wash myself up each time I went.

I was told to use this routine for 6 hours, which I did, but it was a little tedious as someone mentioned. I feel ok, maybe a bit tired and slight headache.

So for the benefit of anyone just ready to start BCG, it is no big deal to have done, for me at least, and now I will go every week (5 more) hoping that I feel the same as I do right now and at the end hope to find that the CIS is not there at that time.

My URO held off BCG-I cant remember if it was 4 or 6 weeks to heal. You don't want this directly in the blood system. On the bleach we used water tank tablets. The good news is you will get through this!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Thank you sara.anne, I found it a bit odd that I had no issues before yesterday, but you are correct, the doc will do what he should do.
