Second cysto and tumor found

5 years 3 weeks ago #47057 by Nix
I had 6 weeks BCG after my first TURB in 2006. Fall of 2007 I was dx'd with CIS - then did 6 weeks of BCG and two years of maintenance. So that was 7 yrs. of "no cancer" check ups.

But bladder cancer does return, so we always have to be on top of our check ups.
Please let us know how you are doing after your appointment.

Tanzie,

A second round of BCG is a pretty normal protocol even if no new tumors are found. I had two-6 week regimens. As Raider indicated it is often done with interfuron on a second effort.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Tanzie,

After the first round if treatments we waited 3-4 weeks and did the biopsy. After the biopsy came back showing there was still some cancer we waited 3-4 weeks before starting the next round of 6 treatments

Raider,

Thank you so much for your reply. If I may ask, how soon after your first round of BCG installation you started the second round? And these are once every three weeks right?

Thanks,

Tanzie

Tanzie,

I was diagnosed with CIS and had 6 weeks of BCG treatments, when we did the post biopsy I still showed CIS but it was a smaller area then the 1st biopsy showed. I did a 2nd round of 6 treatments that only included 3 with BCG since I had a bad reaction, we completed the last 3 with Interferon alone. The good news is that the 3rd biopsy was clear, no cancer.

The good news here is that your mom has the option to do another round of treatments

Best Wishes!
