I have been through 4 treatments and was told i would need to postpone the rest of my treatments, I went out and used all resources to try to find more. this seems almost unethical as the demand has not changed much from year to year.

We have received word from Merck that the manufacturing problem with BCG is being worked on and they project that shipments should resume in October if not late September. We are waiting for more information and will pass it on as we get it.

I went into Boston for my 4th treatment today… they told me they have pulled there overage in another hospital they supply - keeping enough for the treatments on going.. So BWH has enough now to cover us… They told me I have next weeks supply but if they do run out I would be okay going without my 6th.

They said the FDA… had a bad batch…. and destroyed it. interesting…. hope what I had done is okay…

Gina - just went for my 4th BCG treatment this morning and I was told that this was the last of the doctors supply of BCG. There is a shortage of, its nationwide. And, no one know why. BCG is made by Merk. My nurse said she had heard of an October return. My doctor advised me to continue using another medicine. However. you can't just continue on. Even though I have had four BCG's with two to go, I can't have just two more of the other medicine and call it complete. Next week I have to start the first of 6 weekly treatments with the new stuff. This protocol is strongly suggested by the urologists at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in N.H.

It is a bit ridiculous, Alan. However, I believe that there is only one supplier and it is a biologic. Sometimes the bugs just do not behave!!! There should be more than one source so that a glitch in the fermentation process doesn't halt the supply entirely. However, compared to Viagra, it isn't a big money maker so
you know what that means.
