Not the greatest of news, Warren. But, you of all people know exactly what this means and you are ready to do the right thing. I know that we go over and over in our minds what we would do "if." And you are not going to have to stew over it...just get it done!!

With your attitude you will do great. No walk in the park, but you will come out the other side "cured."

Best wishes to you, and keep us posted.

Warren,

I agree with you. I think you have held out as long as you dare, the beast is starting to grow faster.

If I were in your shoes I would want it out before it can get into the muscle. Once its in there it can really spread fast.

Please let us know what you decide and how this all progress. We will be praying for you.

Warren,

I am sorry this has come back but, I have learned so much from your posts in the past! This is one reason why I still continue to lurk and learn and post is because of thoughtful people like you. Your reasoning sure sounds solid to me and also re-affirms what I must do should I progress to where you are. You show us all courage. Thanks for updating!

For those of you who don't know me a brief summary. I'm a pediatrician, diagnosed with TCC TaG3 + CIS 12 years ago. I was treated by TURB & intravesical mitomycin C. I developed a major problem with a urethral stricture which is when I learned about this support group and became a member. In 10/2009 I finally had a urethroplasty to repair the stricture just in time to deal with a recurrence of CIS after 10 years cancer-free. I was treated with BCG, and 1 year later had a recurrence of CIS treated with BCG/interferon. I had consulted specialists at Weill-Cornell and NYU, who agreed that this was a reasonable approach and that a recurrence after that would require a cystectomy. 6-7 months after my last set of biopsies and 3 months after BCG/interferon my biopsy shows high grade TCC with invasion of the lamina propria making it T1G3. My opinion is that this is a rapid enough progression to make it wise to get this bladder out before it becomes muscle invasive, even though it is not a recurrence of CIS (which I'm betting would happen within the year anyway). I have forwarded the biopsy reports to the specialist at NYU. I welcome your opinions.
