Here is a good article to read on T1G3.

T1G3 is one that seems to have variations in treatment.
Many people want to do everything possible to keep their bladders. That was not the case with me but I was T2 anyway so I got my bladder out without having to argue my case with the doctor.

Progression means it gets worse. So a T1 progresses to T2 or T3.
Recurrence just means it comes back and doesn't really matter if it comes back as T0, T1, T2, etc.

Bladder cancer has one of the highest recurrence rates.

Any recurrence of high grade cancer should trigger a discussion with your doctor about a radical cystectomy (RC). There may be reasons not to go forward with the surgery but a serious discussion should happen.

The "normal" protocol for following newly diagnosed bladder cancer is to have a checkup (cystoscopy) every three months for two years, then every six months up to five years, and once a year thereafter.

As you have no doubt read, one of the major problems with bladder cancer is that it tends to come back. It appears that once the bladder lining has tumors, other places in the lining want to do it too! The three-month checkups can find these tumors before they become major problems. AND, by keeping close watch, any tumor is caught before it progresses.

Like many on this Forum, I have "been there, done that."
Now am four years out and on six month checkups!! All is good...and it will be for you too.

Hello everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Lately I've been reading (I think I do too much of that lately) :) about progression risk of T1HG. Where I'm unclear on this is with the doctor completing three month follow-ups, do they normally catch new tumors and treat them before they progress? I'm not sure how progression and recurrence risks tie together, as I thought they were almost the same thing. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on this?
