mitomycin treatments (are they worth it?)

Be sure you are reading the right side effects for mitomycin. It is also used as an intravenous chemotherapy drug and that has most of the scary side effects.

When used for intravesical therapy (instilled into the bladder) it is VERY different.

Again, the package insert that contains side effects is talking about when it is given in the blood stream. All the bone marrow discussion, etc. is about that.

BTW: Mitomycin immediately following a TURBT results in a 40% lower probability of recurrence so my guess is yes, it is worth it.

thanks very much! I am hoping to cope with it as well as I did with bcg.

I am taking Mitomycin treatments right now. Just finished my 6 weeks schedule and on a monthly basis from this month, for 6 months. So far, I have not had any side effects. It is a little bit uncomfortable , other than that, nothing. Don't worry. You will be fine.

I am to start mitomycin c treatments in 2 weeks. The BCG didn't seem to work for me. I didn't feel many side effects from that. But I have been reading quite a few scary posts on mitomycin's side effects and it's success rate. I guess I will be a trooper and go forward and hope for the best.
