Mike,

The reaction you describe is common. Dr. Lamm is considered one of the most leading authorities on BCG. He's certainly done a ton of research. Here is a link to check out regarding BCG. You may also want to Google "BCG Lamm" and you should find some interesting reading.

Happy Thanksgiving!

PS: This is another very interesting read on BCG. www.medscape.com/viewarticle/514530_3
The title is Bladder Cancer: Current Optimal Intravesical Treatment: Pharmacologic Treatment

You need to register to read it but it is free to register and read.

Read all the way through. Some interesting information on BCG dose strength and figuring out what may be the best for you.

Update - awaiting 3rd BCG treatment, 3 days away.. First one was a breeze - had some urinary side effects with the 2nd one - irritated urinary tract. Now I have recurring immediate urge to urinate, with occasional small amount of leakage (can't hold it). Doc wants a scope look 6 wks after completing BCG.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Welcome Mike! Certainly glad you meant cysto! :)

Hope all goes well on the BCG treatments!
Drink lots of water just before your treatments. Lots of folks here with experience with BCG. I had bad reaction and had to stop but lots have been through the full course and regular maintenance follow up.

But I used to live in Delaware and did a lot of crabbing in the bay as a kid. Love those blue crabs and the block parties we'd have with a couple of bushels of them. :)

Had first BCG on Monday 11/7 - no side effects so far! I'll report on each treatment to let you good people know how my case progresses.

Hi, Joey - thanks so much for the offer of correspondence. It's good to have someone who has been there/done that to question as I start the treatments, as the doc isn't always accessible, and usually gives book answers. See ya' later..

Cheers - Mike

Welcome Mike from Maryland! Glad you are enjoying the blue crabs this year. Best wishes to you as you start your BCG. My last BCG treatment was over 2 years ago...and I haven't had a reoccurence since then.
