Hi Mike

Thanks for your response. He's been seen now by a private doctor. Both of us + my mum managed to convince him.

You're right: these were the results of the cytology test. The reason why the doctor suspects upper tract is because he inspected closely bladder and lower conducts and found nothing. Are there any other possibilities?

The next step is the urotac (scan) within the next couple of weeks.

Fingers crossed

Gabriel & Daniel

My father is a male, 65, nonsmoker. Hematuria 01/08 TURB: T1 G3 widespread bladder+prostatic urethra; 3-month BCG.
Clean until 02/11: small TURB with no biopsy; 06/11 tumour detected TURB 08/11: awaiting biopsy, prostatic adenoma removed. Biopsies show both were benign. (...)

Sorry to hear the news. You did all you could in trying to get them to a better place for a second opinion a long time ago. This is an example of why that is so important.

I never understand when people don't want tiger to the experts if they can. It sometimes seems as though some folks think if you don't know about it that it isn't there.

I hope they are able to do something. What is the next step? It sounds like this is the cytology test from the urine so I would expect more follow up. Must be missing some info because a cytology does not indicate upper tract. My local uro thought I had upper tract but I did not. Very hard to get upper tract samples without contamination from the bladder. It may not be near as bad as it sounds.

Where is he being seen now?

Mike

My parents are devastated:

The urine's test says my father has malign cancerous cells present in the blood. The doctor suspects upper tract and schedules him for a Urotac (scans the entire urinary tract).

I know there isn't much information at the moment, but I'd love to know your comments.

Love to all,

Gabriel & Daniel

well that's great news considering the alternative. I guess considering your confidence in this doctor would determine whether a second opinion necessary for the treatment especially if it need be surgical.

That is certainly great news!!!!!

I'd still suggest 2nd opinion because of the past diagnoses.
