Don't know if this helps but have 2 comments. An infection can cause a jump in PSA count according to my URO. Also. I had high grade BLC three years ago and on my 1st anniversary (2009) it had gone up from 0.6 to 2.8. Not quite enough to have more invasive tests. I had my annual physical a second year later and it went to 2.1. I just had my third after BLC almost 3 years ago (not BLC cysto/cytology) and should have blood results in a few days.

I write this only to say don't get worked up on what you don't know. Easy for me to say but, the BLC is now 3 years later and I have also learned to wait without fretting too much for my blood work. Incidentally, they almost ALWAYS find some small item (tryglycerides one year) out of whack. Follow up had it lower (normal) after watching what I eat.

Here is hoping this is minor. I will almost opine it is an infection causing the elevated numbers based upon your notes.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Well, it has been a while since I checked in.

My husband Bob was diagnosed almost one year ago with high grade non invasive bladder cancer. He had the first TURBT followed by 6 weeks of BCG (after healing, of course) then a second TURB which was clear, just a recheck of the margins, and then has been on the every 3 month BCG/cysto as well. So I think he has now had a total of 12 BCG treatments but it could be 15.....blurry memory.

So he is scheduled for a follow up cysto this week, and just as a matter of course the doc ran his PSA along with some other related tests and wouldn't you know it, it has jumped from completely normal to really high. The doc told him on the phone that we'll talk on Friday but with all the stuff they've been doing to him it's not an unusual occurrence. We have had nothing but wonderful care from this Urology team and they've consulted as well with our second opinion doc at UCSF and they also follow Dr. Lamm's protocols.

So I guess my question is, is this a "normal" course of events? He's had prostate issues in the past, many bouts of prosthetitis and even a biopsy thrown in there once, which was negative. He has no symptoms right now, so I don't know if that is more to worry about or not!

Sheesh. I definitely do NOT like freak out mode. I'm the one that freaks out, not him.
