Very little side effects of MMC. It did make me nauseous, but most people nothing at all.

What are the side affects of Mitomycin C? I wounder if my doc just wants to keep it going to make more money? All the places I call will not give me a direct answer, they want to make an appointment to evaluate me.

Hi Gary
Mitomycin C is a chemo drug that is instilled in the bladder for 1 hour immediately following a Turbt. The top Uros recommend this treatment after recurrences.
I too was diagnosed with TA Low Grade tumors in 2005. I did have 2 recurrences of small tumors during 1st 12 BCG treatments.
Since my 3 Turbt, 1 instillation of Mitomycin C, followed by my 3rd set of weekly BCG, and further 12 BCG maintenance treatments I have had no recurrences, which is over 3 years now.
I recommend you get another opinion from a Uro that specializes in bladder cancer.
All the best,
Jack
PS My Uro had given up on BCG after 12 treatments, I did not as the tumors during the recurrences were getting so small.

Welcome Gary. I'm new to the diagnosis, but if you're spotting tumors on the monitor that the doctor is missing perhaps a 2nd opinion would be prudent. I'm not familiar enough with treatment protocols to advise you on how low grade repeat occurences should be treated. I am curious if they're instilling Mitomycin in your bladder after they perform a TURBT though.

The 5 tumors was just the first time, I've had lots of tumors sence then. The tomures come back on the average of every 8 mounths. The last 2 times I found the tumors on the monitor, he didn't see them.
