Hi Everyone, just checking in with good news.  After two TURBTS (Nov 28 and Jan 8) and the removal of 6 tumors (2of 4 cm ea and 4 smaller ones @ TAG3)  Mitomycin after last TURBT and 6 weeks of BCG - I had my Poke and Peek Today - ALL CLEAR - in the Urology waiting room at Walter Reed the Receptionist and the Headnurse both were ready with big Hugs.  My husband was beaming. I start three weeks of maintenance BCG next week and then scheduled for next Poke and Peek on July 11th.

Thanks to Zachary who posted yesterday in Chit Chat and then replied to me with his thoughts.  I told my son in NYC what the message said and he and his two roommates each told ten people to think about me today.  It was great and so was the outcome.  This has been a very sad time for me besides BC and all it brings, I lost my Dad, Mar 15th and at the same time my husband almost had to go to Iraq for 30 days.  So to have so many folks pulling for me today meant more than anyone can imagine.  Thanks again Zachary.

Take care everyone,
Sandra

Hi Wendy, Thanks for the welcome and well wishes.  Amsterdam on a houseboat - Wow!  My husband and I have always talked of "floating Home" living in either Portland, OR or Seattle, WA, but since the Bladder Cancer diagnosis we have discussed changing our retirement plans (my husband who was called back to service after 9/11 retires with 30+ years in US Army, 12/2008) to be closer to medical treatment facilities etc.  If we choose Baltimore I can be seen at either Johns Hopkins or Bethesda Naval (as Walter Reed will be closing in next couple of years) after retirement.  Funny, this was not something we thought we would be considering as part of our retirement options!  But it is true "When a door closes a window (of opportunity) opens"....

My cancer is TCC TA G3 (non-invasive) but the oncologist was not sure the original non-invasive was accurate thus he re-biopsied the original four tumor sites.  Luckily it appears the Urologist did remove all of the original tumors.  But I was not given Mitomycin after my first TURBT which due to G3 is probably why in 5 short weeks I had two more new tumors.  Mitomycin was given after my second TURBT and I feel that this will work this time.  At least keep new tumors at bay until I start BCG.  Still waiting for call from Oncologist - have call into him as he was suppose to call yesterday.  The waiting........

Thanks again for your welcome.....Take Care, Sandra

Thanks Joe S (Fear and Fight) for your reply and so sorry you have to play waiting game - next Monday will be here soon. We all here will be pulling for you that day and will be waiting to hear from you as soon as you can post afterward. I have spent some of those pre-op days at the hospital - the Army hospitals seem to make it a "forced march" so to speak. I used to live in Wilmington, DE so have heard lots of good postive things about U of Penn. You are in good hands.

It's good you have family close by and they keep you busy (or at least entertained with their "busy")...I have five children - three in California, one in Denver and one in NYC. We don't get together as often as we would like. My son from NYC came for Christmas - spent nine days, its was wonderful. I must admit it was tiring at times, but I slept well.

Take care Joe, I will keep you in my thoughts, wishing you the very best outcome. /Sandra
