Hi Pat,

Steve was biopsied in August, 2008 and it was an erythematous patch from the BCG but was not CIS.

U of M finally called and he went to give a urine sample and they are going to run a urinalysis, cytology and they also said FISH.

He'll find out the results of the urinalysis on Monday and later in the week for cytology and FISH.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl...well i'm confused as bladder cancer can develop in the form of a flat, red (erythematous) patch on the mucosal surface. This is called carcinoma-in-situ (CIS) so why wasn't samples taken at the time he saw it? CIS is notorious for coming back so i would get to your uro right away.

After Steve urinated for the 2nd time this morning he noticed blood on the toilet paper but none in the toilet. It wasn't alot but it was there and it was red and it wasn't there after the 1st time he urinated.

As you may recall Steve was diagnosed with a Ta, High Grade with CIS in June, 2005, so it has been nearly 5 years since then. He has completed 27 full strength BCG treatments with the last being in April, 2009.

In August, 2008 he had an erythematous patch which Dr. Hollenbeck said was from the BCG. Is it possible that after having his last treatment in April, 2009 that it could be it?

We're waiting for a call from the nurse at the University of Michigan, as you can well image Steve and I are petrified because it can be nothing or it could be something.

Thanks,
Cheryl
