Baer,

I misread the your first message. If he's going on 6 month schedule now, that's fine. That's normal. I thought it was saying he wanted to move to yearly and it's not time to do that yet.

You do still want to confirm stage and grade though.

You are correct that it's worth the uncomfort of the procedure for the comfort of knowing it's not back!

Baer,

You may want to double check the stage and grade from your doctor. If it's stage 0, and low grade, many doctors take a "watchful waiting" approach to treatment.

I'd probably ask him to keep on the sixth month plan for now. Bladder cancer has a high recurrence rate and you want to keep an eye on it.

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with superficial stage 1 BC in August of 08. After the TUR I was told by my Uro that is was not as bad as he thought it might have been. I had a follow up ultra sound in six weeks and then my first follow up cyste six weeks later (normal 3 mos). He found a red area in the scar and did a biopsy, all clear. He did not recomment any follow up treatments. I had three more Cysto's over the following year. On the one year aniversary the cysto and the cytology were clear so he told me that he was stretching out the cysto's and to schedule the next one for six months. Reading in here this seems a little unusual. My first six month cysto (18 months ater the TUR) is in two days. I am going through all the roller coaster emotions.
Any comments?

One other comment, my Uro is young with an excellent reputation. The cysto procedures are not comfortable but certainly not really painful. It is the result that I now worry about not so much the procedure anymore.
