Good Luck is putting it mildly, Warren. You have struggled with this for so long, I wish you and end to this problem and "blue skies" ahead!

Basically the stricture is scar tissue, and since it is scar tissue that goes all the way around, it narrows the urethra, therefore a stricture. Any surgery can cause scarring, even the surgery to remove the scar. Based on my history, it seems clear that if I can't successfully catheterize the urethra until the scar stabilizes, I will get another stricture. I'll try, so wish me luck.

I'm sorry that you are having to deal with a stricture again. I hope the proposed procedure is helpful. Is this caused by scar tissue? Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to prevent this happening. Julie

Interesting Pat, but actually, the procedure I had has a 90% success rate, and I didn't have a long stricture. Of course 90% success rate means somebody has to be in the 10% that fail. At this point I'm not up for any major revision surgery again, so hopefully it's reasonable to try to salvage the surgery I had.

Warren,

I sure do hope this repeat surgery will fix that stricture once and for all.

Also, I learned a new word from you today ( anastamosis ) so thanks for that!

:)
