Stricture Redux

Pat, I will contact my Uro tomorrow about swapping my Neo for an Indiana. I am 11 months out now, and have just about forgot about the recovery. I would like to experience that again!

Duke, No worry. I have scar tissue at the Neo to Urethra connection. I cath to encourage it to grow out not in.
I have required two cystoballoons because even with cathing,my urethra has nearly closed off. Not a very comforting feeling to not be able to tinkle!

4 months out now? Things must be returning pretty close to normal. Leak free during the day? Feeling much more energized?
Glad for the most part, it's behind you? I bet you are!!!!
Keep up the good work! Jim

OK guys, all this cath talk is starting to scare the crap out of me. Am about 4 months out from my neo. Everything going well! But i'm afraid to ask when and why you all had to start
cathing? Is this something i have to worry about in the future?
The thought of needing to cath is one reason i was apprehensive
about the neo surgery. So far emptying my neo has been as
normal as before surgery. What percent of us are lucky enough
to not to need to cath.
I have also seen Mike write about his neo getting overly large.
Is there a reason that happens? Is there something i need to do to prevent either one of these things.
I guess things must be going very well for me if all i have to worry about is whats in my future. Oh how i love these golden
years!
Wishing all of you the very best.
Duke

Warren..i'm really surprised they didn't recommend the coude right off the bat.......its perfect for men. Works lousy on an Indiana as the construction so different..so the Kendal 14" french is perfect for me as my Indiana is directly behind my navel..no curves. When i was first trying caths out i also found when i am fuller as in an 8 hr nights sleep i have to use a softer cath to wiggle it around the bowels (i think) that have gotten in the way and i use a Mentor l4" clear cath..both non-latex.
I think all you guys should have Indiana's..much more reliable and you only have to cath 4 times a day and can train it at night. I wish these Uro's would quit thinking its a sissy thing!! They should have to have a neobladder..at least then they would invent a way to keep it from prolapsing.
OK i'm off my soap box now!!

Thanks guys. I don't mind catheterizing. I just mind when it won't go. But I can feel when the catheter reaches my prostate, so I know if I encounter any significant resistance before that to back off.
