Just got a note from Rudy's wife.

He was up and walking yesterday and has been walking already today and has graduated from in the room walks to up the hall walks.

He's doing a lot better now, but as all of the RC alumni here know, there is a long way to go.

Those post-op hiccups seem to take forever to go away and they are not fun!

As his wife says "He is still not ready for a marathon but I see progress everyday."

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.

Just to let everybody know, I just got off the phone with Rudy's wife. He just got up to his room, did get the neobladder, the surgery went very well, and the surgeon was very positive. His checkin was 9:45 but surgery wasn't until 12:15 and he was up to his room (nice view of the Rocky Mountains) a bit after 7PM Mountain time.

My timing was good as he'd just gotten settled. He's uncomfortable and has his thumb on the pain med button (didn't we all?).

I told his wife that folks here were wishing them well and keeping them in their thoughts and prayers and she wanted me to pass along their thanks and appreciation. Don't stop now though because as many of you know, the REAL trick is getting the intestines awake and functioning properly after this surgery.

I'm out of town on business now but I get back for Fort Collins tomorrow night plan to drive down to Denver to visit Rudy and his wife on Friday afternoon.

That's it. Just wanted to let everybody know.
