Here it is, over 4 months since my last BCG, and I am still having trouble with ?urethral? pain when walking a lot and sometimes causing discomfort on sitting. (I am taking Flavoxate HCL 100mg for this currently and it seems to be helping.)
I'm just wondering if that last BCG should have been postponed for a week since there was blood in my urine test (.2, I think) at the time.
Also, I had nasty, I mean NASTY :woohoo: cramps in my feet and legs. So bad they would not go away on stretching. They were from either the pyridium or cipro. They are improving lately, also. :side:
Thanks for your input and
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL! :cheer:

Still on an antibiotic for my 2nd prostate infection. All I have to do is hold on till this Friday, when I see a new Uro at UVA. Hope he can remove this railroad-spike form my butt :woohoo: Hope he can/will take over my BCG-treatments and make them somewhat more tolerable w/o the resulting infections!

I have told my family that I will not take anymore BCG-treatments here in town.

Bill,

Ask about Levaquin for the prostate infection. Typically it would be a 30 day dose. that's what I got once when I had a prostate infection.

PS: While Cipro can have side effects for some people, I think they are fairly rare.

 My wife took Cipro for a bladder infection and ended up with Achilles' tendonitis for 18-months. It was painful for me to even watch her walk, she absolutely went thru HELL! So you can imagin my reaction when my Uro prescribed Cipro for my 1st prostate infection after my 1st 6-BCG's. I was put on Sulfatone^%&%^*^&^, or something like that. Stay away from Cipro:S

Sorry Calipso..didn't mean to confuse you with BCG info...tell me what needs claifying?
As for Cipro...it has one new warning on it
Cipro may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon (the fiber that connects bones to muscles in the body), especially in the Achilles' tendon of the heel. These effects may be more likely to occur if you are over 60, if you take an oral steroid medication, or if you have had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant. Stop taking Cipro and call your doctor at once if you have sudden pain, swelling, tenderness, stiffness, or movement problems in any of your joints. Rest the joint until you receive medical care or instructions.
And one of the rare effects of pyridium is swelling
Rare

Blue or blue-purple color of skin; fever and confusion; shortness of breath, tightness in chest, wheezing, or troubled breathing; skin rash; sudden decrease in the amount of urine; swelling of face, fingers, feet, and/or lower legs; unusual tiredness or weakness; weight gain; yellow eyes or skin

At any rate i would report this to your doctor.

Pat mentioned all those side effects of BCG. I don't know what most of them mean. I had 3 more BCG treatments recently - the last was August 18. Previously, side effects never lasted more than the day after. This last one was different - side effects still going on. Had a cysto Sept. 30 and doc said "looks good" . What I still feel sometimes is that pain on urination to a mild degree, but that same pain can occur when doing a lot of walking, and then when I sit, it can feel uncomfortable - sometime very uncomfortable:S . What is this? Should the doc have seen anything in the cysto? Also, 8/28 I started 14 cipro (used it all) and pyridium which I took 24 days. I stopped the pyridium because I think it was the cause of really bad swelling in my ankles and calves. I know side effects get progressively worse - but over 2 months?
Thanks, calypso
