New Dilemma?

:S Chuck, thanks for the input.. you see I have had the CIS Cysto's two times within one year and the last one was just 2 months after Intravescular Thiotepa treatments. Also the last CIS was removed along with basic transitional type tumors. That is what concerns me. The fact that I got no benefit from the BCG other than about 5 months with no tumors and now no benefit from Thiotepa. I would habe gotten Mitomycin last time but no one could obtain it. Shortage of some sort.

If I go another round of Chemo (Mitomycin) then wait another month or so afterwards for that would put me 4-6 months down the road with the same result, needing bladder removal. If I have it done now I could be mostly healed up and pretty much cancer free by then.

Thats why I'm having a CT scan and Doc is looking over the pathology again before we make a decision.

Regards,
Rudy

Rudy,

I have to agree with the individuals that state TaG3 with CIS is treatable. I was diagnosed with TaG3 last August with a minimal tumor and not a positive diagnosis of CIS. I just finished 6 weeks of BCG. Although the treatments are not fun and the side effects leave you exhausted (at least they did with me), having the bladder removed when the tumors are still noninvasive is too conservative in my opinion. I would think the determining factor would be the CIS. That is, how wide spread and is it present with every cysto. You are going down the road correctly in getting that second and perhaps third opinion. I don't envy you decision and I will keep you in my prayes.

Ta, G3, and CIS are survivable without removing the bladder, although some wouldn't recommend taking a chance with a high grade tumor. I had the TaG3 CIS combination, but never had a recurrence. The recurrence with progression is as much a factor in your decision as the grade.

OK so now I have all my numbers, letters grades stages etc. straightened out. I am still Ta but grade 3. My last two Cystos showed two types of growth transitional and CIS. So it has changed over the last year and that is what the Docs and Me of course are worried about.

T3 is not superficial. Maybe you mean G3. I started Grade 3 + CIS, but fortunately have not had recurrences. Recurrences with progression is concerning. Be sure to get a second opinion.

KC thanks for the input and that is exactly what I am doing. Getting another opinion today and first doctor is reviewing the pathology.
