I don't have a fever and haven't during this entire maintenance series. Thank you for your support. I think I may be seeking a new Uro. If he isn't sure what to do, or doesn't listen to me (after 23 of these treatments I know how my body reacts) I don't think I can trust him. It is unfortunate because he has been very supportive an agressive before this. I think the biggest disappointment is not returning my phone call on Friday. He may not have received the message, but who wants a doctor with a staff that is not on the ball?
BC takes so many twists and turns - it sure keeps me busy:)

Negative cultures do not necessarily rule out infection. Physicians using this product should be familiar with the literature on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of BCG-related complications and, when appropriate, should consult an infectious disease specialist or other physician with experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mycobacterial infections.
I'm amazed at how many uro's just ignore serious side-effects.....????????? I don't get it. If you're running any kind of fever get thee to the ER even though they probably won't know what the heck to do. A run of the mill urine test won't pick up anything....you need cultures ..and usually they treat before they even get the results back. Maybe get a referal to an infectious disease specialist?
So sorry NIx.........not fair. You do your homework ..why can't they do theirs?

Patricia - A week ago (8 days after my last BCG) I went to he office and told the dr how miserable I am. They did a urine test and said it was all clear. That is when the uro gave me meds for frequent urination. After my second miserable week I called again today, and this time he changed the meds for frequncy to "Geinique" I just don't have much hope of this helping me get over this. After reading your post, I looked on the Web under BCG Cystitis, anthe fact I have had frequent urination, painfull urination and spasms for 4 days sure sounds like BCG Cystitis.
So, at 4 PM today I called the office and left a message to please call before they leave at 5 PM. Well, they did not call, so at 6PM I calle the answering service. of course my Uro is not on call this weekend, the uro that called said "it sure sounds like you have BCG cystitis but there is nothing you can do anyway". You on't even know if you have an infection" I told him the info I read said you can have a urine test sterile, and still have BCG cystitis. He wasn't very happy with me and to me to call my Uro on Monday. If I should get a fever go to the ER.
We have a plane trip on Tues for a visit with grandchildren, an I would hate to lose the plane tickets $$$ - but if I feel like this I can't make the trip.

I also have an inflamed bladder - even up to 6 months, but I haven't felt this bad 24/7 - 14 days after BCG.
I guess I have to ride it out two more days.

Hi Nix

In 2008 I had 12 monthly maintenance treatments. During that time I also had 3 Cystos, which were 3 weeks after a BCG treatment. Each of my cystos showed inflammation in my bladder.
It was taking 3-4 days for the spasms and pain in my bladder to disappear during the maintenace cycle. I also struggled to hold the BCG past 1 1/2 hours my last few treatments.
My last treatment was Jan 2009. My last cysto was end of March 2009. My bladder at this time was clean as a whistle and showed no signs of inflammation.
The difference in appearance from my Dec cysto to my March was night and day.
So in my case, once the BCG had left my system for a few months the inflammation cleared up.
All the best,
Jack
