I made a call to the Dr. and basically got the same information that NIX provided in her response. I do feel better about it. Thanks for all the responses, you are awesome people.-Phil

In 2004 the World Health Organization (WHO) came up with new grading and stage terminology.....but i sure couldn't find a WHO 3/3?

Though CIS is stage 0 it is always high grade.
Back in 2002 when i was diagnosed it said T2 grade 2....no a,b, or c's with it and my first TURB stated T2 urothelial tumor arising out of CIS. My second TURB at MSK stated T2 grade 2 and no invasion seen. Recommendation was to take out the bladder...that sounded wierd to me but every consult after that said the same thing. When my bladder was examined after cystectomy no cancer was found..only a few dysplasic cells floating around deciding whether to be a cancer or not!! So go figure?:S

P.S. just read an article on Uro Today from Spain which answered my question as to why they put me on the list to get that bugger out of me.

Come to think of it, my pathology report said "WHO 3/3". I had to ask my urologist what that converted to. I was Grade 3 Stage 2 so I'm not sure there was a conversion as much as my uro interpreting the text of the report.

You might want to call your uro and ask for an interpretation.

My report did not say a stage, it just said Ta CIS (at my local hospital and John Hopkins) after a little research I guess it would be Ta CIS stage 0?

The report may not say the stage, but just describe it. For example, my report did not say anything about stage, but I concluded I was stage Ta because it said "no invasion of the lamina propria."
