Sorry for your report! I had the same shock with my 1st TURB and pathology. URO surmised it was low grade and wow was I shocked when path said high grade. Then we had to re-TURB to be sure the margins were OK. I just decided to deal with it as an annoyance for now with the BCG. It is also not inevitable that it comes back. Not sure any abstract/study really knows the real stats but, here are a few (some hyperlinks don't complete-if so copy & paste): http://www.urotoday.com/37/browse_categories/bladder_cancer/efficacy_of_bacillus_calmettegurin_in_the_treatment_of_superficial_bladder_cancer_the_impact_of_previous_intravesical_treatment__abstract.html

I’m sorry to hear the news, but as you stated, it is non-invasive. Don’t get discouraged (it’s hard not to) because the statistics on our disease is that it is likely to reoccur. Most of us here have experienced the roller coaster ride (emotional) and are here to support you the best we can. I like to think about the disease as… it’s not a death warrant, but rather life time annoyance. If we will follow the tried and true procedures (frequent checkup with cystos and chemo washes when indicated) then this disease does not have to be threatening. Keep that positive attitude and use this site for your support system.
dx - Aug 2005
Five reoccurences (last 12/09 Ta high grade)
BCG Started 10/09 (2 6wk treatment)
BCG Maintenance started 4/10
Had another TURB-T last week. Doctor felt that the tumor was probably low grade based on appearance and followed TURB-T with instillation of Mitomycin. He called last night and the pathology came back as TaG3. He is going to re-biopsy at 2 months and then determine further course of action. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but at least it is still non-invasive and he did check my left kidney and all stones on that side have passed (still have 4 or 5 on the right side). So. . . back in my seat on the cancer roller coaster.
Dx - August 2008 TURB-T for two large TaG3 tumors
BCG - 6 treatments
January 2009 - Follow-up cysto revealed additional tumor
February 2009 - TURB-T
