Ann,
You right, I have these questions to my Uro, and he just answered that since it has been tow years the last TURB and all cysto came clear , he decided to move me to a yearly cysto. I am still not believing that but cause he is my Uro and I need to trust him and I love the idea that I am doing good I just happy and wish it's safe to be on a yearly cysto. you know we all need some good news even if we have some skeptical feeling. just hoping it is right.

Suzi, Congrats! That is ALWAYS good news for all of us to read!

Ann,
My schedule is the same as yours. I guess not everyone follows the same schedule. If I have three more clean cystos then I can move to 6 months for three years - that is fine with me!

Hi Ann

The reason my URO moved me to 6 months cycos after 1 year free, is because my monthly BCG treatments have been working so well, no cancer cells in my urine or blood. I still have 2 monthly BCG treatments left.
If everything is fine in April, he will then start me on Dr. Lamm's recommended annual BCG maintenance schedule. I am wishful thinking, that I would start 1 year cycos next year. My URO insists on 6-month Cysos until 5 years tumor free. I am like you Superficial Stage 1.
Sorry for the confusion.
Jack

From these posts, it looks as though there are people whose doctors are moving them to cystos every 6 months after one year of all clear 3-month check-ups. Or, am I misreading the posts? My doctor does cystos every 3 months for two years, before switching to every 6 months for the next 3 years, then annual after that (assuming all clear all that time). I thought this was the standard. I was unfortunate enough to have a recurrence at exactly the 2-year mark from the initial tumor (low grade, non-invasive), just when I was looking forward to going to check-ups every 6 months. So, as of June 2008 my 2-year clock started all over again, and I'm still on 3-month cystos. (Plus, the BCG protocol for about 3 years.)

Small TA Grade 1, May-06; recur (2 tiny), same, June-08; TURBTs both times. BCG begun July-08, dosage to 1/3rd May-10, completed treatment December-11. All clear since 2008.

I luv great news. And, I eat broccoli at least once a week plus other anti-oxidants such as blueberries & pomergrante juice often. Can't hurt!
