TaG3 + CIS. Treated with a course of Mitomycin C, but not at the time of the TURB. Never had a recurrence in 7¾ years... but hematuria and symptoms continue from complications (a urethral stricture) so I'm never fully worry-free - but mostly worry-free :cheer:

I do not mean to take away from Becky's intent in this thread, but, this may be a good place to pipe in...

This morning I read a slide show presentation by Dr. Lamm where he states that optimal response with Mitomycin treatment occus within 6 hours of tumor resection...

There is ALSO a new method of optimized usage of Mitomycin C by using some sort of alkalinity predisposition.....

More on this in another thread sometime later...

I had Mitomycin C within 6 hours of both of my TURBS (one for original tumor and one for RESIDUAL tumor...)

This MAY have something to do with a reason for non recurrance for 2 1/2 years...who really knows? :silly:

My Doc no longer uses Mitomycin.....:woohoo:

I had initial diagnosis and TURB (one small, non-invasive,low grade papillary tumor) in May 2006. Went all clear for almost 2 years, but had 2 tiny tumors diagnosed in June 2008, removed in July (same exact type, even smaller, but in a different locations than the original). I was just started on BCG because of the recurrence, though I think there is disagreement about BCG for blc of this type. Some urologists use mitomycin after TURB in a case such as this, though mine did not.

Best of luck in celebrating many more all clears! I do think the longer the intervals between recurrences, the better the long-term prognosis is for hanging onto your bladder, but that's if the tumors are low grade and non-invasive.

Small TA Grade 1, May-06; recur (2 tiny), same, June-08; TURBTs both times. BCG begun July-08, dosage to 1/3rd May-10, completed treatment December-11. All clear since 2008.
