A #16! What is that - like a municipal sewer pipe? Ask him to order some #8's and 10's!

I take Oncovite - a multivitamin. Here is info I posted on it a few days ago.

Re:Vitamins and nutrition 3 Days, 19 Hours ago
I was dx'd with BC in May 2008. Research led me to Dr. Lamm's web site and reference to Oncovite which I have taken since. My docs, when I asked and gave them formulary, said "it could'nt hurt". It has nothing weird in it; simplya multivitamin formulated by Lamm based on what he has learned about dosages of various vitamins.

I take two per day.

Best price I have found is drugstore.com.

Here is formulary:

Had my second BCG treatment this morning and things went MUCH better! The doc used the lidocaine and a smaller catheter. They normally use a #16, which is what they used last week, and this week they used a #12, which is the smallest they have. There was still some discomfort, but no pain. It was a good visit all around as I got to talk to the doc a bit more in depth. He said my urine looked great, though I'm not sure if that's really anything to get excited about. He also recommended some kind of vitamin called, and I'm trying to read his writing, oncovit(?). Any info on this?

Thanks again for getting that info. I called yesterday morning and talked to the nurse and she told me she'd get back to me as soon as she talked to the doc. They finally got back to me today and the doc said we would try the gel and a smaller catheter. I'm going to throw out a "#8 french feeding" just to see what they say. Kind of sounds like a menu item! This could be my next catch phrase, "Give me a #8 french feeding with a side of cole slaw!" Can't see that one catching on. I'll let you now how I make out. I have to say, if I had a nurse (or doctor) that was as sensitive to a patients needs the way you have, she'd be getting generous tips from me every time I left the office!! She should put out a "how to" DVD.

David, you can count me in on the urethra stricture list. I've been dialated a couple times over the past 4 months, so I know how you feel. Somehow a piece of skin or ? gets in the way of the "pipe" opening and flow is reduced, along with entrance of that catheter.

Jon, I asked my nurse about this at my treatment yesterday and she told me no one was doing this lube thing in the past (That was HER talking), so after seeing it with the cysto procedure, she thought "Why not do it with catheterization?" So I guess she figured it out on her own. She used a #10 again on me, but this one was a clear color-not a red one like in the past. The red is too flimsy and can get bent or caught up going "down the chute", so this stiff, clear one was her preference. (Wonder which one was French?) ;) Other then initially getting past my "restriction", I felt nothing and the BCG flow took only two minutes....no more.

Because each office orders these supplies on their own, they may not have any #10's lying around. I'd certainly call and ask if this is a stock item they have available at all times. Ditto for the lube. This should be a piece of cake procedure and they are making things way to miserable for you. Sorry for that, Jon.
