I am so happy that you are going for a second opinion!!Good Work! Great Choice as well. Get the date of when you should be finished with your treatment, ask them how long after treatment they want you to wait...Then set up the appt.

Good Luck to you,

Slabman,
Just as Dan said, they will do a cystoscopy. None of the doctors want to do a cystoscopy during bcg. I went for my second opinion (to Barnes St Louis) right after my doctor did a cysto after my frist 6 wks of BCG. Then I felt four eyes are better than two!
Good luck

It also makes sense to me to wait until you finish your first round of BCG treatments. At that time MD Anderson will likely want to do a cystoscopy when you visit (to see for themselves what your bladder looks like). At least that is what they did for me when I went for my 2nd opinion there - they asked me to coordinate my visits there with my local series of BCG treatments in California.

Slab,

I was confused for a minute, but now I think I get it. It's the timing that is the issue. If you had asked for the 2nd opinion BEFORE beginning treatment, I bet they would have taken you. You don't want to back the horse out in the middle of the stream....

I had my 2nd opinion at the University of NC BEFORE my treatment was even determined. Part of the value of the 2nd opinion was in getting validation for treatment protocol.

Best,

Today I called M D Anderson to enquire about going down for a second opinion. Surprisingly, I was told I should wait 'till my first round of BCG treatments was over before setting an appointment for seeing a doc down there. While I can understand one Doc not wanting to step on another's toes, I still wish to get the wheels moving on setting up that second opinion. Am I missing something? Or how can I get this moving sooner rather than later?
