Hi All,
I finally have a date for my cytoscopy and urethrotomy - Thursday, March 13. I'm still having only minor urethral twinges (albeit big psychological ones :P). I'll let you all know what happens.
I must say, I can't believe how many of you lovely folks have expressed an interest in my urethra ;D. I'm much moved by the community support available here, and I'm not even one of the guys having major cancer problems - just complications.

Warren,

I read this thread and when I got to the one on your experience at the uro's office, I cringed (just as everybody else on this thread probably did). I was glad to hear the your stricture is not as bad this time. I hope it can be well-managed, if not cured. I know that I would even have trouble with the daily self-catheterization - would not be my favorite part of the day. Thanks for all the advice you give to others on this site and I hope you get the good news you expect about the BC.

Dear David,
I've heard of Peyronie's, but  haven't dealt with it. My sources pretty much indicate that the cause is unknown. More importantly, the plaques are under the skin of the penis and not urethral, so I doubt the repeated tortures we go through to deal with our cancer would cause it (which doesn't mean you don't have it).
I don't mean to imply that your information is unreliable. I don't know where you did your research, but with so much garbage out there on the Net, I prefer to get medical information from reliable sites like WebMD and the Mayo Clinic.
The Mayo clinic article at www.mayoclinic.com/health/peyronies-disease/DS00427/DSECTION=3 lists Injury to the penis, Autoimmune disorder, Inherited collagen abnormality, and Medications as some possible causes.

Warren,
Are you familiar with "Peyronies Disease"? This is a condition caused by calcium deposits in the shaft of the penis which cause a deformity such as curvature up, down or sideways. From what I have been able to determine though internet research, it can sometimes stem from prostate surgery or related procedures. One can't help but wonder if all the poking and prodding from Cystos and TURB's could cause such a condition. I think that's what I have, albeit a mild case.

Warren and Leigh -- I hope this distress is over for both of you very soon. It sounds just rotten. You've both been of support to me and I certainly wish both
of you quick resolution to these discomforts -- my best to both -- Susan
