Confused--Cysto found Papillary Tumors but Cyto Negative...

Warren,
Sorry --- I'm a lazy typist: "unid" = unidentified. So you are saying that cytology results are not always accurate? I strongly suspected that, based on posts on the forum but of course I want to be optomistic.

Dear David,
Although my initial cytology before the cystoscopy found my cancer showed atypical cells, it did not show cancer.
Can't find the word unid anywhere, even my medical dictionary.

My cystoscopy on Nov 16 showed several new papillary tumors and an unid growth partialy obscuring the left ureter. The uro doctor's assistant called this afternoon and said the the urine cytology came back negative --- is there such as thing as benign papillary tumors? Obviously I am still very new at this! On the other hand, are cytology tests all that accurate? In this case, I am obviously hoping that they are!
I still have a TURBT scheduled for 11/30 to investigate what the unid mass near the ureter could be... could it be benign?
I know that with vast sum of cumulative experience will produce logical answers.
