Hi,
I had mouth sores during chemo...I was told to use a baby tooth brush as it is very soft. Also I rinsed my mouth a few times daily with baking soda water. It seemed to help alot as I vomitted every day for the last 2 monthes of chemo.
God Bless, Holly

My husband was given a product called Prevention. They have two one is especially for chemo patients. I got a big bottle at walgrens. He uses it 3 to 4 times a day and hopefully this will keep the sores away.

I was told to rinse my mouth out with warm water and salt especially on the days I was given Methotrexate. I was on the MVAC chemo www.chemocare.com/bio/list_by_acronym.asp?acronym=MVAC So what I did was everytime I got chemo I did this a couple of times and I had absolutely no problems, hope this helps you cause it did for me. Hi,

Our Dr. told my husband to chew/suck on ice or hard candy during and after his chemo to avoid the mouth sores. They seem to think by keeping the saliva going in the mouth that the chemicals cannot "sit there too long". I am sorry that he is having this problem. I hope this helps for the future....It is not full proof I am sure, and it may just be a theory, but so far so good for us. Hey, its worth a try right...As for what to do now? May I suggest a few drops of ambesol in a small cup of water and do a rinse. DON"T SWALLOW IT...or just apply to the trouble spots. Anything that is used for canker sores will work too.

Thinking of you,

Hi to everyone,

My husband has been having difficulty eating because of sores inside his mouth. His doctor told us is from the chemo and prescribe a wash before every meal. They are very painful. I try to make him things like eggs, soup, pudding. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or have any suggestions. I feel very bad for him. Thanks! Aimeth
